TOPIC: Restricted access - live site mismatch

Restricted access - live site mismatch 6 months 4 days ago #968

Installed ExtraWatch originally on a Joomla 3.7.0 system. Upgraded recently in 3.7.1 and I get the following error message when I attempt to open Components > ExtraWatch; "Restricted access - live site mismatch"

1) Is there a quick fix for this issue?

2) If not, which tables would I remove from the database in order to allow ExtraWatch to reinstall fresh on the site?

Hi,
just reinstall the plugin.
2) all #__extrawatch_* tables. (replace "#_" with the actual prefix your joomla installation uses - eg. jos_ ..)

After fighting with this persistent problem for over two weeks, I finally discovered the root cause of the issue. Due to what I believe is software bug in ExtraWatch, the issue was caused by the URL which I was using to access my site.

instead of www.domain.com/administrator/ ... I was using www.domain.com/Administrator/ (Notice the capital "A" in administrator). For whatever reason, ExtraWatch is sensitive to that capital letter and will throw the above mentioned error. As soon as I changed the link to all lower case. The problem immediately went away. VERY strange, indeed.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT ExtraWatch programmers: How about adding an strtolower() around whatever link you have in your software which does that portion of the site verification.

Turns out the issue was the URL you were using to access your site.

Yes, was using the capital "A" in administrator and ExtraWatch was none too happy with it typed that way.
